Devices and signing in
You sign in to tTerm Web with a code from email. On a device you trust, a four-digit quick code brings you back.
Sign in with a code
Section titled “Sign in with a code”-
Open app.tterm.net, enter your email and press Get a code. Six digits come by email.
-
Enter them in the same browser: the code works only there, for 10 minutes, with five tries. A minute later you can press Send a new code, and the code before it stops working.
-
The first time, the page asks for Your name and one tick, I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Create account makes the account, with its first project, Personal.
Every time someone signs in to your account with a code from email, tTerm writes to you: New sign-in to tTerm, with the browser, its IP address and the time. If it was not you, press Forget all devices in Settings (the email’s Open Settings leads there), and change the password of your email: whoever signed in could read it.
The quick code
Section titled “The quick code”Right after the code, the page offers Create a quick code for this device: four digits, then the same four once more. Digits all the same or in a row are refused. Next time, this browser asks only for the quick code.
It works only together with a long random key this browser keeps, so it is no use on any other device. Five wrong tries forget the device, and it is a code from email again. Forgot the code? sends one at once, and after it the page offers a new quick code.
Not now goes on without one: next time this browser asks for a code from email, and offers the quick code again.
After 8 hours without anything done, the session ends, and the page asks you to sign in again: Your session ended. Sign in again: your terminals kept running. On a device with a quick code, the quick code is enough.
Sign out
Section titled “Sign out”The account at the bottom of the sidebar opens a menu with Settings, Language, Account and Sign out. Sign out ends the session and makes this browser forget you: next time it asks for a code from email, not the quick code. Notes typed here and not saved yet are forgotten too. Your terminals keep running.
To switch to another account, sign out and sign in with the other email. Switch account, on the quick code screen, also asks for an email.
Your devices
Section titled “Your devices”Settings → Devices lists the browsers where you sign in with a quick code, and each tTerm for Mac signed in with the browser, named as tTerm sees them: Chrome on macOS, tTerm for Mac on MacBook-Pro. Each says when it was trusted or signed in and when it was last used; This device marks the one you are on.
- Forget a browser, and there it takes a code from email again. Forget tTerm for Mac, and it is signed out: it works with that Mac only, as before signing in. Forget the device you are on, and you are signed out here.
- Forget all devices…, then Forget all devices: every device is forgotten and every session ends, this one too. Each browser then asks for a code from email. Your terminals keep running.
A browser keeps its quick code for 90 days from the day you made it: after that it asks for a code from email again, and offers a new quick code. A device that has not signed in for 90 days is forgotten by itself and leaves the list.
tTerm for Mac
Section titled “tTerm for Mac”tTerm for Mac signs in with your browser. In the app, press Sign in with your browser on its first screen, or Sign in in the menu at the bottom of the sidebar: it opens app.tterm.net and shows a code. In the browser, sign in if you have not, check that the page shows the same code, and press Allow. If you signed in to this browser more than a quarter of an hour ago, the page first asks you to confirm it is you, with the quick code or a code from email.
The Mac becomes a machine in Personal, the app appears under Devices, and tTerm writes to you about the new sign-in, as for a browser.
To let the app into another account than the one this browser is signed in to, press Not you? Use another account under Cancel. The browser’s session ends, its quick code stays, and the page asks for the other email first.
Your email and your account
Section titled “Your email and your account”Your email is on the Account page, in the same menu. To change it, write to support@tterm.net. To delete your account, write there from the address you sign in with.
